New park opens at Alconbury Weald
- 15.01.2025
Alconbury Weald has opened its latest play park this week: Crescent Park. This is the sixth play area within the first phase of development at Alconbury Weald, and includes a swing basket, log scramble, stepping stumps, jumping disk and climbing frames. It also has benches and designated picnic areas, allowing families and visitors to relax, unwind and make the most of their time outdoors.
Designed in 2020 with input from local residents, much of the park was finalised in 2022 so that the planting had time to mature and establish ahead of opening it up with the wider area, creating a welcoming and vibrant space for all to enjoy.
Crescent Park is located off Windsor Road at Alconbury Weald, close to the latest houses from Morris Homes, and provides play on the way opportunities for children heading to and from the Education Campus.
All the play parks at Alconbury Weald have bespoke designs to reflect their setting and location, with play equipment to encourage active living and physical literacy for all ages. They have been located to provide doorstep play for each area of homes and, through the different designs in each place, to encourage families to explore the different play areas – which are all connected by offroad footpaths and cycleways.
“We’re delighted to be able to open Crescent Park for local families to enjoy. It’s a lovely space and will be great for pupils of Prestley Wood Academy to play on the way to school or relax and unwind on the way home. In time, I’m sure it will also be used by pupils attending the future primary school and secondary school that will come forward in the Education Campus.”
