Community Wellbeing Day supports active start to 2025
- 13.01.2025
Join us for our Community Wellbeing Day from 7.30am on Saturday, 25 January 2025 at Alconbury Weald.
January is a great time to reflect, set goals and prioritise health, fitness and overall wellbeing for the year ahead. To help kickstart these New Year’s resolutions, Alconbury Weald’s Community Wellbeing Day is offering residents and those living and working in the area an opportunity to try out some of the fitness classes and activities available at the development.
This year’s programme includes sessions at The Pavilion offering a range of free activities for all ages and abilities to help improve flexibility, strength and fitness. This includes a fun and energetic boxercise class with exercises to improve strength and heart health; yoga to help restore energy and reduce stress, weight and anxiety; and Tai Chi, a gentle, low-impact exercise to relieve stress and improve strength, balance and flexibility.
To ensure Alconbury Weald’s youngest residents also have an opportunity for some active fun, a new soft play session is being launched at the event to encourage imaginative play and exploration for children under 6 (who must be accompanied by a parent/guardian).
The Unit Fitness will also be holding an open morning at The Gym (in The Club building) from 11am to midday to showcase its newly refurbished facilities and explain how its team can help you achieve your fitness goals.
In addition to these free sessions, massage therapy is available to book for a reduced fee of £10 a session.
Natalie Leigh-Brown, Community Development for Urban&Civic, said: “Our Community Wellbeing Day offers some great ways to relax, reconnect and recharge as you head into the new year. From newcomers to fitness enthusiasts, everyone is welcome. It’s a great way to try something new or have a go at an activity before signing up for regular sessions.
“We also have a range of sports clubs at Alconbury Weald looking for new members as well as outdoor table tennis in Garland Park, the MUGA in Swynford Park and extensive footpaths and cycleways for those looking to stay active and improve their overall health and fitness in 2025.”
The Community Wellbeing Day is open to everyone, but spaces at the sessions in The Pavilion are limited and need to be booked in advance on EventBrite (search for ‘Alconbury Weald’).
