Local Food Festival a roaring success

Food Festival (Alconbury Weald)

This year’s Alconbury Weald Food Festival surpassed expectations with over 1,500 visitors, enjoying a sunny day filled with delicious food, live entertainment and family-friendly activities, creating a fantastic community vibe.

The food festival, organised in partnership with Off The Beaten Truck, featured a diverse array of food trucks offering a wide variety of cuisines, from woodfired pizza to Asian steamed bao and a range of decadent desserts. A variety of beverages were also available from a coffee kiosk and pop-up bar, and a food market showcasing fresh produce from local suppliers gave visitors a taste of the best that our region has to offer.

In addition to the culinary delights, festival goers were treated to the artistic talents of a local illustrator, who drew personalised portraits that guests could take home as a unique memento. Children also enjoyed bouncing on a giant trampoline, while families and friends relaxed on picnic benches and rugs they had brought along.

A highlight of the event was the debut performance of the resident band, Weald Thing, whose songs had everyone tapping their feet. The live music added an extra layer of enjoyment to the day, creating a vibrant and energetic backdrop to the festivities.

"We are thrilled with the turnout and the positive response from the community, the support from local vendors, performers, residents, visitors and the wider community truly made this year's festival a remarkable success. We look forward to continuing this tradition and making it even better in the years to come."

“This is our first collaboration with Alconbury Weald Food Festival and it has proven to be a fantastic event; it’s truly been a celebration of culinary excellence, local talent and community spirit. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the day so special.”

Having soaked up the atmosphere, visitors explored the show homes and chatted to the different housebuilders about the apartments and houses available, as well as the incentives on offer to make their dream home a reality.

Alconbury Weald’s communities team organises a range of activities each year to bring the community together and, following the success of the recent beer and food festivals, is gearing up for its popular Heritage Open Day on 7 September 2024. More regular markets in The Glade, alongside the Co-op, are also planned culminating in the much anticipated Christmas market.
