Huntingdon housebuilder helps local school climb up the ladder

A Huntingdon housebuilder is supporting a local school’s sustainability efforts.

Redrow Homes South Midlands, currently building at Alconbury Weald, on Bardolph Way, has presented Alconbury Community Pre-school with a £525 donation.

The donation was part of Redrow’s community fund initiative, a £10,000 fund created to support various community projects led by local groups, organisations and individuals.

The funds made possible the purchase of essential sustainable wooden equipment, including a junior climber and balance scales, which will help the pupils develop their motor, spatial awareness and balancing skills.

Suzanne Irons, sales director for Redrow Homes South Midlands, said: “Here at Redrow Homes, we are committed to creating thriving communities while building family homes responsibly, in a way that is sustainable and considerate of the environment.

“Children are the future of the housebuilding industry, so we’re always keen to support local schools, especially those with innovative practices. Alconbury Community Pre-school’s ethos really resonated with us, and we are proud to play a part in their eco-friendly journey - who knows, there might be a future Redrow sustainability expert among them!”

Louise Askwith, administration assistant at Alconbury Community Pre-school, said: “We are really grateful for Redrow’s donation, which has helped us fund some fantastic sustainable equipment for our playground.

“Here at Alconbury Community Pre-School, we are keen to invest and promote the use of sustainable items and avoid the use of plastic, so we hope our pupils will inherit those values too. On behalf of everyone at the school, I would like to say a big thank you to the Redrow team for its support.”

Located in the north of Huntingdon, Alconbury Weald provides a unique environment for families. With many schools and community facilities nearby, the development also has its own town centre and offers 600 acres of open spaces, woodlands and parks.
