Help shape the next steps at Alconbury Weald

Consultation events to cover a new Country Park for the area and additional 1500 homes at the growing new community
Following early consultation at the end of last year, local people are being invited to attend a public exhibition (24, 26 and 27 April) to see how initial feedback on plans for a Country Park and additional homes at Alconbury Weald has helped shape the current proposals. The Country Park is part of four strategic green spaces within the development and forms part of the pledges made by Urban&Civic, master developer for Alconbury Weald, to provide a green buffer between the existing and new communities, while providing open space with shared benefits to the local area. The Park will extend to some 63 hectares, making it nearly as big as Hinchingbrooke Park, and will enhance existing features such as the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Prestley Wood and historic ridge and furrow, alongside new woodland and grassland for nature and for recreation and leisure for local people. With 1,500 more homes at Alconbury Weald set out in the draft Huntingdonshire Local Plan, a range of scenarios were explored in previous events in December. Since then, the team has held additional discussions with the Parish Council, District Council, Historic England and others to develop proposals, which will also be set out in the April consultation events. These include establishing homes on Grange Farm, on areas previously set aside for a further education campus - which is no longer needed due to the iMET skills centre coming forward as part of the Enterprise Zone - and areas around the main road, bus and future rail and metro connections which will connect the development to the A141. Come along to next stage of consultation to find out more about updates to the plans, discuss the current proposals with members of the project team and help shape the final plans: • 4pm-7.30pm on Wednesday 24 April at Little Stukeley Village Hall (PE28 4BA)• 3.30pm-7.30 pm on Friday 26 April at Great Stukeley Village Hall (PE28 4AL)• 10am-4pm on Saturday 27 April at The Club, AlconburyWeald (PE28 4XA) A free bus will be available from the surrounding villages to the Alconbury Weald event on Saturday, 27 April and tours of the site will also be available. Please call 01480 413141 for details. The consultation will also be available online here from 24 April to 8 May 2019.
Rebecca Britton from Urban&Civic said: “The team is keen to ensure that any plans for Alconbury Weald come forward in a considered, holistic and strategic way and we hope local residents and communities will come along to see how we have responded to their earlier comments and suggestions and help finalise the plans for the next stage of development.” Urban&Civic aim to submit planning applications for the next stages of Alconbury Weald’s development in the early Summer.
