Paddington 2 under the stars at Alconbury Weald - 11 August

Alconbury Weald will be holding its first major summer event next month with an evening of outdoor cinema at the development’s Watch Office Green, at the heart of the growing community. Urban&Civic has joined up with Enchanted Cinema and, following discussions with new residents, is bringing Paddington 2 to Alconbury Weald on Saturday 11 August.

The night aims to create an original and vibrant cinema experience that offers an exciting way to watch a great film. With magical light installations, live music from local artists and an array of Cambridgeshire’s finest pop-up caterers, including Kura Kura (Sri Lankan), Souvlaki Shack and Nelson and Pops as well as wine tasting brought to you by Through the Grape Van.

The screening will also be hoping to find the next Hugh Grant and Paul King of the future, with the team behind the St Neots Film Festival team helping guests get creative with a filming workshop. All guests will have the chance to be featured in their very own mini film, which will hit the big screen on the night!

Steph Burton, the community lead for the new development, said:

“Under the stars at Alconbury Weald, Enchanted Cinema will be bringing us some real cinematic magic, and we want residents and neighbours from across the area to come and enjoy this fantastic evening.  The location, nestled between the newest Skills Centre and central Club building, and the historic Watch Office, which will soon start refurbishment, makes a perfect and quirky location for our evening of Enchanted cinema. If all goes well this year, we’ll be looking to make it a regular event, with the inevitable showing of Top Gun on the Runway at some stage.”

Nestled just on the outskirts of Huntingdon, Alconbury Weald is a new and growing community transforming a former Second World War and Cold War Airfield into a vibrant and green place for living and working. The Watch Office Green - a key heritage space in the making - lies between the development's Listed Second World War building, and the Cricket Pitch, along the development's iconic Boulevard, at the heart of the first phase of the new community.

The community is growing week on week, and currently has about 130 families moved in and a vibrant Primary School – Ermine Street Church Academy – growing each week. Alongside this the Enterprise Campus has over 1 million sq foot of commercial space developed or under development, with its latest Incubator building filling up fast.
