Morris Homes launches at Alconbury Weald

Housebuilder Morris has announced the opening of its new development at the new community at Alconbury Weald, just north of Huntingdon.

At the launch weekend, potential home owners were given the chance to reserve from Morris’ range of modern, high-quality three and four bedroom houses, with five bedroom properties also due to be released on the development in future.

Ideal for first-time buyers looking to get a foot on the property ladder, while also being perfect for families and downsizers, the wider Alconbury Weald development will provide more than 5,000 homes, 8,000 jobs, and more than 700 acres of green space when complete.

It will also have three excellent primary schools, one of which is now open, with a secondary school coming forward in the next few years and extensive investment in road, bus and cycle infrastructure.

Morris’ unique designs on the development have resulted in a collection of characterful homes that fit the area seamlessly. The red and buff coloured bricks complement the surrounding properties, while crafted detailing such as brick eaves and stone heads give the homes a sophisticated edge. The investment in landscape across the wider Alconbury Weald development ensures greenery and trees provide a beautiful surrounding landscape while inside, some properties have been designed to feature beautiful vaulted ceilings.

Dawn Dolloway, sales director at Morris, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to put our Morris mark on Alconbury Weald and contribute to what will turn out to be a fantastic new place for people to live and work.

“We pride ourselves on thinking differently, creating beautiful homes that are characterful and individual – and we hope that our new development will reflect this to the public.”

New strategic developments such as Alconbury Weald are helping to address the housing supply issue in areas such as Cambridgeshire and London, where prices are rising to the point where some first time buyers will never be able to get on the property ladder. As a result, there have been an increasing number of enquiries in the area where transport links are strong, but house prices are more affordable.

Rebecca Britton, Communications, Communities and Partnerships at Urban&Civic added: “The new community at Alconbury Weald is really starting to take shape, with people moving in, the school filling up and families enjoying the play space and cycle and walking routes we’re opening up. We’re really pleased that Morris has opened its quality development on site and look forward to welcoming new residents moving in later this year.”

We’re also excited to be working with Morris in bringing a new range of homes to the Midlands, with the opening of The Beacons – another quality Morris development due in Rugby later this year.”

Access to strong transport links at Alconbury Weald will mean that commuters can move away from the rising house prices of London and Cambridge, while still remaining within commutable distance to the major cities. Local bus routes stop outside the development – including The Busway Route B -  and Huntingdon train station is 15 minutes away, connecting people to the capital in 50 minutes, while the A1 and A14 link homeowners to Cambridge and Peterborough in half an hour.

And with three and four bed homes starting from £294,750 or £235,800 with Help to Buy, the Morris homes on offer represent an affordable option for potential homeowners looking to move to a highly sought after area.
