Supporting healthy bodies and minds at Alconbury Weald's Wellbeing Day
- 11.01.2023
Community Wellbeing Day: Saturday, 21 January 2023
At the start of each year, the local community is invited to a free activity day to try out some of the regular sports and fitness classes taking place at Alconbury Weald. This year, the programme has been extended to include a range of wellbeing activities, advice and guidance to support physical and mental health in 2023.
As well as reflexology, Yoga and Tai Chi sessions to support strength and flexibility, a mindfulness and mediation workshop will teach relaxation techniques to help reduce stress levels and improve health and quality of life.
Mental health charity Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire (CPSL) Mind will also be holding a ‘5 Ways to Wellness’ workshop for people to design a personal wellness plan for the year ahead and provide an opportunity to connect and socialise, to discuss and pick up inspiration from others' experience, and identify areas of change for overall wellbeing.
Rachel Arnold, Communities and Partnerships for Urban&Civic, said: “The opportunity to enjoy a healthy lifestyle is embedded in the principles of Alconbury Weald and there are lots of regular activities taking place – from health and fitness classes in The Pavilion, to personal training at The Gym, team sports and our weekly walking group.
“We’ve had really positive feedback about previous Community Activity Days and wanted to provide a bit extra this year, with activities and workshops designed to support mental as well as physical health; to put people on the right track for a positive 2023.”
The Wellbeing Day on Saturday, 21 January is open to everyone but the free activities need to be booked in advance.
