Summer edition of Make|News ready to read

The latest edition of the Alconbury Weald newsletter - Make|News is being delivered to residents and the surrounding communities to keep them up to date with all the latest development news as well as information on upcoming events and activities.

Updates include details of a new walking route linking to the future Country Park and connecting residents to the wider countryside and additional new leisure routes for walking, cycling and horseriding within the next phase of homes. The new walking route also means residents can more easily access Prestley Wood ancient monument, where the remains of a moat sitting within a woodland where there was once an ancient manor house.

Alconbury Weald's first primary school, Ermine Street Church Academy, has recently appointed two new Co-Headteachers and the newsletter features an interview with Emma Slade and Ayellet McDonnell to find our more about them as well as what the pupils have been up to.

The next phase of Alconbury Weald - Phase 3 - will see the delivery of the next 2,000 homes, employment space in the next phase of the Enterprise Zone, two primary schools, the Cold War Heritage Area and a new area of Parkland on
the old Runway. It will also see the development’s ‘Town Centre’ hub come forward, which will include a health centre, sports facilities, library, shops as well as other facilities and amenities for existing and future residents to enjoy. Last year, Urban&Civic submitted a Definition Statement to Huntingdonshire District Council setting out the elements that this phase will include, in line with the 2014 Outline Planning Consent for Alconbury Weald. Last year, consultation events were held so residents and neighbours could help shape the evolving designs and the newsletter sets out the key feedback and next steps.

The summer edition also includes details of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations - a weekend full of activities for the whole community to enjoy. On Saturday, 4 June from 2-6pm there will be a live swing band and 19050s themed games organised by Alconbury Scouts as well as a variety of stalls with arts, crafts, glitter tattoos and lots more. On the Sunday, Alconbury Weald will host its first Open Gardens event with an opportunity to explore and be inspired by gardens of all shapes and sizes.
