Redrow to launch show homes at Alconbury Weald - October 14
- 04.10.2017
The opening of Redrow show homes at Alconbury Weald on Saturday October 14 is the latest milestone for the landmark scheme in Cambridgeshire.
Six months after the homes were launched ‘off plan’, it will be the first opportunity buyers have to view the properties without travelling to other areas.
To mark the occasion, the award-winning housebuilder is serving up afternoon tea ‘on the house’ and will have entertainers on hand to teach circus skills and offer face painting.
Prices here compare very favourably to Cambridge and so Redrow is encouraging buyers who’ve perhaps been priced out of living in or close to the city to consider moving to Alconbury Weald, where they can be part of the new community taking shape.
In fact, those in the market for a four-bedroom home could find that their housing costs are more than halved.
Current prices for a four-bedroom detached home at Alconbury Weald start from £345,950, whereas figures from home.co.uk suggest that the average four-bedroom home in Cambridge is more than double at £759,987.
Tonia Tyler, sales director for Redrow Homes (South Midlands), said: “We’re excited to be part of the wider Alconbury Weald scheme to create a vibrant new community featuring homes, jobs, schools, an abundance of open space and a whole host of other facilities. The opening of the show homes represents a real milestone for us.
“Some people have been happy to reserve ‘off plan’ or to travel to other areas to view similar properties, but nothing quite beats viewing a show home in the location where you want to live and we have lots of eager buyers keen to see inside. We’d encourage potential purchasers to visit at the earliest opportunity. They may even be surprised to learn that being part of this vibrant new community could be easier to afford than they anticipated as prices here are extremely competitive compared with Cambridge, only half an hour’s drive away.”
Viewing Redrow’s Stratford, Cambridge and Balmoral style show homes will give buyers a flavour of life at Alconbury Weald.
All three properties are four-bedroom detached styles, dressed as aspirational but achievable family homes visitors can truly imagine themselves living in.
The Stratford’s front facing lounge boasts a feature bay window, typical of the Arts & Crafts era; there’s a combined kitchen and dining room to the rear, with laundry space and cloakroom completing the ground floor.
Upstairs, the master bedroom has an en-suite, leaving the family bathroom to serve the remaining three bedrooms.
The Cambridge also features a lounge to the front and an expansive kitchen, dining and family room overlooking the back garden through extra wide patio doors. There’s also an adjoining utility room.
A cloakroom to the ground floor and en-suite to master bedroom help minimise the morning rush for the family bathroom.
The Balmoral is the largest of the three and is a substantial family home with dual aspect lounge. Double doors lead from this relaxing space to the open plan kitchen and dining room with adjoining utility. A study or family room, plus a cloakroom complete the ground floor.
Upstairs, two of the four bedrooms enjoy the luxury of an en-suite.
Alconbury Weald is already home to its own primary school, Ermine Street Church Academy, which also provides community facilities and meeting space. Plus there are plans for secondary and special school. There’s also a gym, café and community shop, plus business space at the Enterprise Campus and plans for a health centre. The community park includes a skateboard park, helping to encourage children to play outside.
The A1M and A14 are easily accessible, making it a great base for those who work in Peterborough, Cambridge, Northampton or London. Huntingdon station is just a short journey away, offering journey times of under an hour to the capital. Plans for Alconbury Weald’s very own station, mean commuting will become even easier in future.
The Redrow show homes at Alconbury Weald open on Saturday October 14 with afternoon tea and entertainment available from 11am to 2.30pm.
