New Cambridgeshire Community has everything homebuyers say they need

Schools, local stores, parks and coffee shops help create a sense of community and rank highly on buyers’ agendas - and at Alconbury Weald they can have it all.

The landmark scheme in Cambridgeshire already has or will feature many of the elements identified as being important for creating a community in a survey carried out by Redrow Homes.

Award-winning Redrow is building 200 homes at Alconbury Weald, north of Huntingdon. The wider multi-developer scheme, overseen by Urban&Civic, will eventually provide thousands of homes, jobs and hundreds of acres of green space, plus a host of community facilities.

Tonia Tyler, sales director for Redrow Homes (South Midlands), said: “Location and being part of a community plays a massive part in deciding where to live and at Alconbury Weald a whole new community is taking shape. Our research report ‘Creating Britain’s new communities’ found that open space, local shops, coffee shops and schools were among the top features people rank as important to social well-being. Alconbury Weald boasts all of them and more.”

Alconbury Weald is already home to its own primary school, Ermine Street Church Academy, which also provides community facilities and meeting space. Plus there are plans for secondary and special schools. There’s also a gym, café and community shop, plus plans for a health centre. The community park includes a skateboard park, helping to encourage children to play outside.

“There are also opportunities to work at Alconbury Weald, with business space at the Enterprise Campus. And, because the A1M and A14 are easily accessible, it’s a great base for those who work in Peterborough, Cambridge, Northampton or London. Huntingdon station is just a short journey away, offering journey times of under an hour to the capital,” Tonia added.

“And with plans for Alconbury Weald’s very own station, commuting will become even easier in future. All in all it’s a great place to live and we’re happy to be playing a part in creating a vibrant new community.”

Redrow’s current availability at Alconbury Weald includes four-bedroom detached designs in a choice of styles, priced from £345,950.

The properties are currently being sold ‘off plan’. Buyers can explore the different layouts via the Redrow website, which includes an exclusive members’ only area where they can make their design choices, selecting the finish of the kitchen and bathroom amongst a host of other features.

The Redrow sales centre at Alconbury Weald is open daily from 10am to 5.30pm.
