Community enjoys tennis activation event at Alconbury Weald
- 10.04.2024
With lighter evenings and warmer weather, there are lots of opportunities to enjoy outdoor sports at Alconbury Weald and Huntingdon Tennis Club recently treated residents to a tennis activation day. The event introduced the sport to newcomers and gave more experienced players an opportunity for a knock about.
Over 30 children and adults took part in three free sessions for children aged 4-9 years old, adult beginners and free play/family time on the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at Swynford Park.
Natalie Leigh-Brown, Community Development Lead for Alconbury Weald said: “Last year’s tennis event proved really popular, and we were delighted to welcome back Huntingdon Tennis Club. All the sessions were fully booked, and everyone had lots of fun, whether they were picking up a tennis racquet for the first time or dusting it off after a winter break.
“The MUGA in Swynford Park can be used for a variety of games including basketball and netball, and we have tennis nets available to borrow for those looking to hone their skills or just have a friendly game.”
Following the success of the event, a tennis group has been established at Alconbury Weald for players of all ages and abilities. To join the tennis group or borrow tennis nets, email natalie.leigh-brown@urbanandcivic.com.
