Community Chest launched at Alconbury Weald

Urban&Civic, master developer of Alconbury Weald, has launched a Community Chest to provide small grants of up to £250 to help fund projects that will bring together and benefit the thriving new community.

New or existing groups looking to establish or add value to community projects or events at Alconbury Weald or purchase equipment that will benefit the local community are being invited to apply for the grant by completing a simple application form.

The fund can be used for a wide range of uses including publicity and promotion, refreshments, venue hire, licenses for events and project research. It cannot be used to pay individuals/staff ways or alcohol/bar fees at events.

Natalie Leigh-Brown, Community Development for Alconbury Weald, said: “We’ve had some great ideas from residents about groups, activities and events they’d like to arrange at Alconbury Weald and we wanted to provide some financial support to help them realise their ambitions. We also have partners like Active Communities and Groundwork who can provide advice, training and support alongside the funding.

“As lockdown restrictions gradually ease and we find the “new normal”, we want the fund to help residents find new ways of coming together and build on the strong community spirit that’s established.”

If an application is successful, the allocated funds need to be spent within one year of the application and photographic evidence provided to demonstrate how the money has been spent.

More information as well as terms and conditions can be found on the application form.
