Amateur photographers take a snapshot of life at Alconbury Weald

The winners of an amateur photography competition at Alconbury Weald have been crowned.

Residents at the development near Huntingdon were invited to share their best snaps depicting life during lockdown, offering both children and adults an opportunity to get creative and to showcase what life has been like during social distancing.

Since the competition was announced at the end of May, residents as young as three submitted their entries featuring beautiful local sceneries and snippets of daily life.

The local community was invited to vote on the best entries, which helped determine the winners in the adult and children’s categories. MP for Huntingdon Jonathan Djanogly was among the judges, alongside a member of the Urban&Civic team and a professional photographer.

The winner in the adult category, Jacky Jensen, 60, shared a photo of a bee pollinating a flower taken at Alconbury Weald with the caption ‘Bee kind during coronavirus’.

The winner in the children’s category, Blair, aged 5, submitted a colourful selfie with the caption ‘Every day is a rainbow day with school at home’.

Both winners were awarded a £50 VEX voucher, while runners-up got a £10 VEX voucher each. Furthermore, all participants received framed prints of their entries, which they can hang at home or give to friends or family.
