Latest updates on Alconbury Weald in Spring 2025 newsletter
- 02.04.2025

Hello and welcome to our Spring 2025 newsletter, with updates on the latest news and developments at Alconbury Weald.
With the clocks going forward and signs of Spring popping up all over Alconbury Weald, we’re looking forward to warmer days, lighter evenings and more opportunities to enjoy time outdoors with family, friends and neighbours.
It’s been a busy few months for the development: the new Community Garden is ready for our launch event on 17 April; work has started on early landscaping and infrastructure to support new homes and Prestley Park coming forward in the second phase of the development; and plans for Phase 3 are progressing with the approval of the Design Code and the recent submission of plans for Runway Park.
Education is a key priority for Alconbury Weald, and it is great to see Jemima House Nursery, Ermine Street Church Academy and the recently opened Prestley Wood Academy thriving. The new secondary school also celebrated an important milestone with the submission of updated plans to Cambridgeshire County Council.
A September 2027 opening is being targeted and DEMAT, which will be running Alconbury Weald Church Academy, is seeking expressions of interest from parents of children currently in Year 4.
Urban&Civic is also supporting skills, training and recruitment opportunities in construction in the region, and has teamed up with the team behind the successful Marshall Skills Academy to set up Constructed Pathways. Since its formation, it has set up a number of construction skills pilots, which it will be rolling out in the coming months.
The community is looking forward to a range of wellbeing, nature, cultural and heritage events again this year. In addition to support from the Urban&Civic communities’ team, Alconbury Weald Community Association members are volunteering their time and talents to organise events and activities that bring together all ages and interests.
The Quality of Life Foundation has also reported back on feedback from residents that took part in its survey last Autumn and highlighted what’s working, what isn’t and what could be better. We’re delighted that the majority of residents enjoy living at Alconbury Weald and are confident that we’re making good progress towards addressing some of the key issues raised.
