Toy company is the latest addition for Alconbury Weald
- 08.08.2016
John Adams Leisure Ltd, the Huntingdonshire based toy and games distributor is set to be the newest resident at Alconbury Weald Enterprise Campus. Recently named as one of London Stock Exchange’s 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain, and known for household brands including Rubik’s Cube, Tiny Tears, Fuzzy Felt, Ideal Games, John Adams Creative play, Action Science and Intex Pools and Spas, the company has identified the Campus as an opportunity to further expand the business and achieve its ambitious growth strategy.
A full planning application was submitted in July and construction will start on the 13,287m2 (143,000 sq. ft.) headquarters before the end of this year.
Established in 1967, the company is synonymous with developing and marketing creative play products for children of all ages but is currently spread across three sites in Huntingdon. The company has experienced significant growth over the past six years, being recognised within The Sunday Times Fast Track Top 100 and International Track 200 in 2016, and now needs to consolidate its operations into one dedicated building. By designing a bespoke commercial HQ within the Enterprise Campus it will allow the company to grow more rapidly and further expand their international client base.
John Adams Leisure launches over 50 new products each year and many of these are developed in-house and the prototyping, model making and packaging development of these products will all be carried out from their new headquarters. This will also allow the company to preview their full product range to UK and international buyers throughout the year.
Simon Pilkington, Managing Director of John Adams said: “This is an exciting time in the development of our company. John Adams Leisure has successfully evolved over the past six years, as we contƒinue to expand our position within the UK Toy and Leisure market. The company employs a talented team of people whose strengths and skills complement each other and combine to drive the company forwards. The new offices are part of solid plans that we have put in place to give the team the resources needed to ensure our continued growth and expansion both in the UK and internationally for the foreseeable future.”
Tim Leathes, development director for site owner and developer Urban&Civic said: “We are delighted that John Adams Leisure are joining the ever growing community at Alconbury Weald. They are a great success story for the development and we were able to work with them to give them the building they needed to meet their international capabilities. They join a growing number of businesses that are choosing the Enterprise Campus and we are beginning to see a strong community working together even before they physically move in.”
