Early Years Opportunity at Ermine Street Church Academy

Ermine Street Church Academy is inviting Early Years care providers to bid for the first provision at Alconbury Weald, which will be part of the new school offering.

The successful Potential Provider will be responsible for providing this service in partnership with the school’s leadership team and liaising closely with the Contract Manager.

Ermine Street Church Academy is opening as part of the Diocese of Ely Multi Academy Trust (DEMAT) and will be the first school on the Alconbury Weald development. The DEMAT and Ermine Street are committed to providing high quality childcare as part of the school’s provision for the community.

Headteacher Adrian Shepherd said:

“It is widely acknowledged that children who experience high quality early years provision are provided with the foundations necessary for achieving positive outcomes for life. Our vision and ethos is founded on providing a nurturing and supportive environment for learning and we defy the link between background and attainment. This is an exciting opportunity to work with us, in an inspiring purpose-built setting, to get the best outcomes for our young people.”

The first phase of Alconbury Weald will see 890 homes built over the next 5-7 years, along with the development of 700,000 sq ft of commercial space for businesses in the adjacent Enterprise Zone. In total the development will see 5000 homes, 8000 jobs, 3 primary schools, a secondary school and a range of community, transport and leisure facilities.

The developers and School are working together closely to develop a flexible and innovative approach to early years and childcare which would offer a comprehensive service of 0-5 childcare and early years provision. Further detail about the opportunity are available here, and the deadline for tender submissions is 9 June 2016.
