Platinum Jubilee celebrations planned at Alconbury Weald
- 17.05.2022
A weekend full of activities for the whole community to enjoy is planned at Alconbury Weald as part of the celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Jubilee Summer Saturday, from 2-6pm on 4 June on Watch Office Green, will include a live swing band and 1950s themed games organised by Alconbury Scouts as well as a variety of stalls with arts, crafts, glitter tattoos and lots more.
Attendees are encouraged to come dressed for the occasion and celebrate in style. Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed adult and child, whether in fancy dress or their fanciest dress, and the best laid picnic blanket, which could be traditional, modern or eclectic.
From 10am-4pm the following day, Alconbury Weald will host its first Open Gardens event, with an opportunity to explore and be inspired by gardens of all shapes and sizes – from works in progress to fully established. Look out for the large flowers in the window of participating gardens!
Open Gardens maps are available to buy for £1 from Swynford Stores in advance or Ermine Street Church Academy and participating gardens on the day. Money raised will go to Alconbury Weald’s Neighbourhood Watch.
Refreshments will also be available at the school, with donations going to Friends of ESCA for school projects.
Natalie Leigh-Brown, Community Lead for Alconbury Weald, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to our fantastic Community Association who have worked so hard to pull together all the activities for the Jubilee celebrations and the Open Gardens event.
“It promises to be a truly special weekend and we hope families, friends and neighbours come along and enjoy the festivities at the heart of the community.”
