New Alconbury Weald community celebrate Christmas in style

The newest residents from Alconbury Weald joined children, teaching staff, local businesses and contractors for the inaugural outdoor performance of a carol concert and nativity at Ermine Street Church Academy on Friday evening.

There were traditional carols and songs from the school children, a live nativity play which was followed up by mince pies and mulled wine to warm the audience up.

Adrian Shepherd, Head of ESCA said: “Tonight we have started a tradition which I hope will run for many, many years. The true meaning of Christmas was alive with a wide range of people coming together to enjoy themselves and celebrate. The school is certainly looking forward to welcoming the local community to many more events this year.”

Rebecca Britton, from Alconbury Weald developers Urban&Civic said: “This is a very special moment for Alconbury Weald. For six years we have been consulting, designing, planning and delivering the new school, the homes, roads and landscape. Now it has become reality and to be able to bring together new residents, pupils and parents - and businesses from the Enterprise Campus – for our first Christmas together is fantastic.”
