Work has begun on a new facility for Alconbury Enterprise Campus businesses. The Club building will provide a cafe, gym and additional meeting rooms as well as larger meeting and event space for both businesses on site and the wider business community across the area.
Local family-run construction company RG Carter have been appointed by site owners and developers Urban&Civic to carry out the build. Construction started on 1 June, and the building is due for completion by Christmas.
Gary Ridgewell, Project Director for Urban&Civic, said:
"The Club is going to be a valued addition to the Campus, providing purpose-built facilities in a quality and stylish building and setting. It will support our growing community of businesses as well as the demand we have for events here because of our links and central location. I'm pleased we have been able to once again find a strong local company to deliver this and we are working with RG Carter to maximise the jobs and skills opportunities locally from this build."
Miles Foden Senior Project Manager of R G Carter added
"This is an exciting project for us: high quality design on a high profile project. We're looking forward to working with the project team to deliver an outstanding facility for the Campus and local community."
The building has been designed by AHMM - the architects who created the award-winning Incubator. It will sit further along the tree-lined Boulevard, and form the start of the next phase of development which will see a mid-tech cluster developing around the historic setting of the Campus listed Second World War Watch Tower.
